Who can participate in the Hackathon? |
Challenge ACI is open to teams comprising of students pursuing any engineering course / MCA / BCA from anywhere in India. |
How do I form a team? |
Teams get formed at the time of registration. The registration process involves giving a Team Name and the names, email ids and mobile numbers of the team members online from the hackathon web site www.griet.in/chai . Talk with your friends who will like to form a team, think of a Team Name, and keep their details ready before you start the Registration process. A student can be member of only one team. |
What is the Registration Fee and how do I pay it? |
Registration is free for the hackathon. |
What types of projects can teams work on? |
Hackathon teams can work on any project that uses any of the prescribed technologies - Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning , Cyber Security, Block chain, Internet of Things(IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT) - to address a problem in any of the application areas - Agriculture, Health Care, Manufacturing, Entertainment, Logistics/Supply Chain, Smart homes/Grids/Cities. |
Should the projects be hardware based? |
We are looking for working prototypes that solve problems. The projects can be only software based also. However additional points will be scored by projects that offer complete solutions - for example with training done on a PC platform and the trained model deployed on a hardware platform like the Raspberry PI. |
How do project teams get judged? |
All judges will be from outside GRIET. The evaluation will be based on multiple rounds spaced throughout the hackathon. The following broad guidelines will be followed for project evaluation: * Clear and well define objective * Demo of a working prototype * Relevance to the hackathon theme in terms of technologies and application areas * Project complexity and level of difficulty * Techno-commercial pitch for the project made by the team |
Does the hackathon, its mentors, sponsors provide any assistance to the teams? |
Mentors can be consulted in case you hit a roadblock but code debugging, help in hardware assembly will not be provided. Temperature controlled soldering stations will be provided for assembly, if required. Teams should get their own laptops. |
How many prizes and the prize money? |
Prizes worth Rs 1,20,000 will be up for winning in the hackathon. The prizes will be a mix of cash prizes and sponsored prizes for different categories. |
Will teams that are not winners get any certificate? |
Members of all teams shortlisted for participation will get a participation certificate. |
What is the last date for project proposal submission and how do we do it? |
Any registered member of a team can submit the project proposal. Only one submission is allowed per team and cancellation of submissions are not allowed. Discuss well as a team before starting the project submission process. The submission should be done on-line from the hackathon website www.griet.in/chai. The last date for Registration and Project Proposal submission is 26th September 2023. |
When and how will we know that our project has been accepted? |
Emails to all project members will be sent if your project has been accepted and shortlisted for participation in the hackathon. These notification emails should reach you latest by 28 Nov 2023. |
What are the facilities provided for the participating teams? |
All efforts are being made to provide working breakfast, lunch and dinner to participants. Food stalls with items available on payment basis are also being planned.
Working tables with suitable provision of power outlets will be provided. Uninterrupted power will be ensured all through the hackathon time.
High speed Internet will be available during the hackathon time.
We can assist faculty mentors accompanying the teams to find suitable accommodation in nearby hotels on payment basis.

What should be the team size? |
The maximum team size permitted is 4. Teams with girl member representation will get additional points.

Should the projects be hardware based? |
We are looking for working prototypes that solve problems. Preference will be given to projects that
are hardware based. For example, a sensor based Edge Computing project that makes its own dataset, trains offline and puts the model back on the hardware for inference. Also points will be awarded to projects that are multi-disciplinary

What is the last date for project proposal submission and how do we do it? |
Any registered member of a team can submit the project proposal. Only one submission is allowed per team and cancellation of submissions are not allowed. Discuss well as a team before starting the project submission process. The submission should be done on-line from the hackathon website www.griet.in/chai. The last date for Registration and Project Proposal submission is 25th September 2023.
